R-Ex was invited by Women Leading in AI to make a robotic drawing installation during their annual conference at the Microsoft Reactor. Our robot Nachito was drawing during the WLinAI annual conference based on participants input. User semantic input is mediated by two interconnected machine learning models using. Predictions are then translated into robotic motion.

24 – 26 October 2019

Alicia Nahmad, will be part of the team running the workshop  ‘Architectural Geometry and Machine Learning Mashup’ during ACADIA 2019 with Vishu Bhooshan, Shajay Bhooshan and Federico Borello (ZHACODE). The workshop explores the synergies between geometry based reasoning – friendly to the designers-  and reasoning based on observed ground truths – friendly to machine learning and AI technologies.

R-Ex collaborates with MOBIE and the Construction Innovation Hub to prototype the Future of Housing. The designed and fabricated furniture will be exhibited during UK Construction Week @ NEC Birmingham 6-7 October 2019.

Very excited to be have been handpicked with 10 other companies by Innovate UK and Enterprise Europe Network London for the upcoming Global Business Innovation visit to the Netherlands on AI and Robotics from the 9th-12th April.


Our project KnitCandela at the MUAC has been extensively covered in different digital media focusing on its design, engineering and fabrication innovations at the intersection of the most innovative digital fabrication techniques and traditional building manual craft.
